BIRSBANE: Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh recalled Saeed Ajmal’s viral quote about science and man while describing the performance of Jasprit Bumrah during day two of the third Test against Australia.
While commentating in Hindi for an Indian media outlet, Singh took the reference of Ajmal’s 2021 interview with Usman Khawaja to praise the Indian pacer Bumrah for his extraordinary delivery.
“I saw an interview of Saeed Ajmal with Usman Khawaja where he was speaking about science. He said, ‘What is science, man? Man in science.’ So, Bumrah is science. He is a great scientist. The point at which science fails, his work begins from there," he added.
“Bumrah knows how to target a batter. He’s a true artist and his art is to pitch the ball at the right area. But Khawaja doesn’t know how to play this bowler. His skillset is completely different and his numbers speak volumes about his talent," Harbhajan praised.
Ajmal, while speaking to Khawaja on his YouTube channel, had remarked: “I make the guys ready like within a month, any youngster can bowl doosra, within 15 degrees but ICC ban straight away, saying nobody can bowl, because science said, why science f*** man, what da science, science is the man."
Bumrah has been the standout bowler, claiming five wickets in the first innings of the third Test.
After dismissing the openers, he bowled the final delivery of the 82nd over to Steven Smith, which was caught by skipper Rohit Sharma at first slip.
Australia’s top-scorer, Travis Head, was also sent back by Bumrah after a brilliant knock of 152 runs.
